It isn't like Steam hasn't provided an interim solution to maintain multiple versions of the game either. I for one won't blame Steam for forcing updates on the client end if this means the Valve CS can free up more time to deal with actual higher priority problems. If you've ever heard of the horror stories from a tech/customer support then you'll know a majority of so-called critical issues can be fixed by a quick update of the software, cuz as suggested someone may have been running an offline out-dated and buggy version for far too long. ![]() This is becuz Valve makes the high level assumption for all game developers that the latest version of their products should be the most stable and feature completed and it's in fact the responsibility of the game developers to make sure they're up to those standards.
